As we discussed in the History section, in late 2014 after receiving a number of requests for clock repair, Evan decided it was time to revive the family business and started Van Gelder Clockworks

A significant factor in starting the business was daughter Danielle‘s skills as a photographer and web designer for Dandelilly Studios. In addition, working part-time as an interior designer with Bruxvoort‘s Decorating Center, she routinely uses and encounters clocks in her work making a nice blend of services.

As we mentioned earlier, the technology landscape for watches and clocks has drastically changed over the years. Yet, there are still many heirloom time pieces that need maintenance and repair. This was one of the drivers for choosing the tagline “Redeeming the Time”. The other driver of that tagline was the Bible verse Ephesians 5:16 “Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” These days certainly call for wise living!
